After breakfast, free time on the ship until noon.
(Option: Abu Simbel Tour from US$ 180 per person including entrance fees for a group of 2 or more):
Early in the morning we set off by car to the true pearl of Nubia - the temple of Abu Simbel, located almost on the border with Sudan, 280 km south of Aswan. Along with the pyramids of Giza and the temples of Luxor, they are among the most outstanding monuments of ancient Egyptian architecture. Situated by the water, the temple complex of Abu Simbel greeted the rising sun.
The Great Temple is dedicated to the victory in the war with the Hittites. Since the Pharaoh's troops were patronized by three gods - Amun Ra, Harmakis and Ptah, Ramses II ordered that they, as well as himself, be depicted in huge façade statues. The temple is built in such a way that twice a year, on February 22 and October 21, one can observe how the first ray of the sun penetrates through the entrance portal into the sixty-five-meter-long passage leading to the sanctuary and illuminates the statues of Amun Ra and Pharaoh Ramses II. It is noteworthy that the light never falls on Ptah - the god of darkness.
In the afternoon we go to Edfu, on the way we will visit Kom Ombo, located 43 kilometers from Aswan. A unique architectural complex - the only double temple formed from two separate temples and dedicated to the god of war Horus, the elder brother of Osiris and the god of fertility Sebek. The walls of the temple are decorated with bas-reliefs with scenes of pharaohs worshiping different gods. A unique image of the first surgical instruments on the wall of the temple proves that the Egyptians were well versed in medicine and human anatomy. Lunch on the ship, transfer to Edfu. Night and dinner on the ship.
Dinner and overnight on the boat.
